The Technology Kit has been developed to suit the requirements of the Intermediate phase and is CAPS compliant. The kit caters for learner centred activities and can be used to teach concepts as specified in the CAPS curriculum. Components of the kit include winches, pulleys, technoblocks, gears, weights, buzzers etc. Learners performing these activities are introduced to the different forms of energy and their conversions e.g. Potential energy to kinetic energy. These activities also assist learners to understand the application of technology in household appliances e.g. fire alarm. The kit is versatile and has components which can also be used in the senior phase and for project work. Each kit contains a manual for learners and teachers. Teachers are encouraged to use the manuals for assessment purposes.
